Abstract

Within the field of psychology there is a secular controversy about whether psychology is a natural or historical science. As psychology and language are commonly interrelated, this controversy has also made its way into research on languages. Based on a recent debate on bilingualism in the area of cognitive sciences, we argue that a critical/historical psychology approach shed new light on basque sociolinguistics.
