Resurrección María Azkue (1864-1951) went abroad in order to publish his dictionary, at least from early 1904 to January 1906. In France he went to Paris and in particular to Tours, and in England to London. This paper deals primarily with letters written from abroad, in Basque, to his mother and two sisters, Aurora and Diana. This series of letters Azkue sent from abroad is essential to understand the vicissitudes involved in publication of the Basque manuscripts in London and the triple dictionary (1905-1906), the later in Tours.
