This paper discusses two storytelling sessions performed by two specialists of this type of activity in Basque. Taking cohesion as a central point, we attempt to explain the effect that this textual aspect has on narrative text, therefore, we used a triple perspective: that of linguistic form, the enunciative value and the social dimension. The session drew stories from these three sources when constructing the narrative and characterizing this story telling session as a textual genre. As we have shown, the resources used by the narrator are of many kinds, but especially noteworthy is the dependence of the mechanisms of cohesion that the context and immediate or improvised character construction had at the time of utterance.
