The terms “text”, “text genre”, appear with great frequency both in the linguistic description as well as in the teaching of languages. nevertheless, it is convenient to know what is the descriptive relevance of each term, and the relationship between them. as far as we are concerned, we believe that the contribution of the textual linguistics and, in particular, the socio-Discursive interaction that can assist us to clarify the two issues raised. According, to the sDi, the text is the materialisation of a language action. But, paradoxically, the text is not a linguistic entity, but a communicative unit, albeit praxeological, which is to say that the contextual factors are part of the configuration of the text, where the former becomes associated to the socio-historical moment of production, but also by necessity, written in a given genre. In this text, we stumble over the genre; and in the genre, we stumble over the text. Both categories must be addressed jointly at the moment of setting the compositional dimension of the texts. These reflections are aimed at language teachers.
