Abstract

This piece of work examines the values and uses of the distancing reformulators dena dela, dena den, edonola ere, and edozelan ere. This is done from a discursive-pragmatic approach; examples taken from texts constituting the broad Basque language corpus have been used to obtain the necessary empirical examples of language production. The results show these markers also assume an argumentative value in addition to their concessive value; they further take on a number of discursive values. The four reformulators can function as equivalents of each other.
