Abstract

If Basque is to progress, it will be with the support of society, through the consolidation of the spheres of protection it has had so far, and by attracting the sectors that have resisted it, in Araba (Alava), in particular. For this purpose, it is crucial to build a fresh, appropriate discourse around Basque to be able to overcome the limits of the discourse in force until now. Among other things, Language Ecology offers firm bases for taking this project forward, but there are things that can be preserved and used from today’s approaches.
