Abstract

The aim of this paper is to discuss the work of Miren Agur Meabe and the place it deserves among contemporary Basque literature. Meabe's work has never really enjoyed the recognition from academic research on contemporary writers which it deserves. Through the study of the history and context of female poets, we will focus on female Basque poets and Miren Agur Meabe's place among them. This work will focus on the analysis of her 4 volumes of poetry. We will evaluate the reviews she has received, highlighting the literary characteristics and study in depth certain subjects addressed. Furthermore, some research papers on the poetry of Spanish women will be used to supplement the lack of critical reviews which exist in this field.
