Abstract

This article brings together the views of various authors on the importance of the media for the Basque language, expressed during the «Euskal hedabideak, itun bila» (Basque media, in search of agreement) conferences held in February 2017. In order to respect the logic of the original ideas, it focuses on three different areas: a retrospective look at the process of normalizing Basque, the current potential of the media from the point of view of revitalizing the language and, looking towards the future, the challenges and opportunities brought by the tandem of Basque and the media.
