Abstract

Which is the better paradigm to explain the social order? ¿The consensus or the conflict? This discussion is frequent when we study the relations between two or more languages. Some sociolinguistics think the relation must be based on the consensus, but in others’ opinion, on the contrary, it should be based on the conflict. In this article we study both paradigms, the discourses that have emerged from them, and the influence they have been in the Basque Sociolinguistic studies.
