Abstract

The Map of Linguistic Diversity in Gipuzkoa shows languages spoken by the people of Gipuzkoa other than Basque, Spanish and English. An analysis of the municipal population census data published by EUSTAT shows the distribution of the population of foreign origin is given in this article at national and regional level; this is also available on the website published by the municipal distribution plan. The results of the study show that there are 10 languages in Gipuzkoa that may have more than 1,000 speakers, and about 120 languages with a small number of speakers. Pending what the results of the qualitative study will show, this proposed language distribution is to be taken as hypothetical.
