Antonio Arrue: Euskaltzaindiaren eta Francoren erregimenaren laguntzaile

Abstract

Arrue gave assistance in publishing books and organising’s meetings and bersolari contests. He wrote in Basque on gastronomy and also wrote a number of pieces of literary criticism. He was a traditionalist Carlist Basque language loyalist. At the same time, he was active in plotting against PNV members such as Nemesio Etxaniz or Manuel Lekuona, silencing their merits and hindering their public activity in support of Basque. Unless we bear in mind both of these aspects, we will create a deceptive image of the activity of Antonio Arrue in our cultural memory. And that would be unjust.
