Modernismoaren zantzuak Antonio Arrutiren poesian

Abstract

The object of this piece of work is to prove that Antonio Arruti’s poetry is on the threshold of Modernism. By means of textual analysis the aim is to show that certain features of modern Basque Renaissance poetry can be observed in Arruti’s poetry. Similarly, in so far as the poet first adopts highbrow lyricism only to abandon that style subsequently, Arruti’s poetic career is shown to be a paradigmatic example of the difficulties that modernist poetry encountered in its beginnings.
