Martin Garaidiren fitxa: euskal detektibeen aitonaren atzetik

Abstract

Martin Garaidi is the first known detective to star in novels written in Basque. He was created by Jose Antonio Loidi in the novel 15 egun Urgain’en. This paper assesses the character created by Loidi and the context in which he was created. Placing Garaidi alongside the classic detective figure in novels of the genre allows a better understanding of how this genre hooked up with Basque literature. By following the rules of the sub-genre, Loidi managed to expand the Basque literary world in the post-war years.
