This article is a description of the main characteristics of the volumes on morphology and syntax in the New Grammar of the Spanish Language that RAE and ASALE published in 2009. The text pays particular attention to the way in which linguistic variation was analysed in this work, and also offers some reflections on the factors influence drawing up grammatical treatises today.
