Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to describe and interpret individual syntactic struc-tures that are the result of a very common phenomenon in spoken language: the pheno-menon of lexical repetition. There are few phenomena that are regarded as indicators of an oral style: parataxis, propositional monemes, anacoluthons, repetitions, syllepsis orellipsis... Yet we must not forget that to describe, interpret, judge or evaluate all from a linguistic point of view it is essential to take into account the syntactical laws of the oral modality. Persisting with this latter idea and to better understand the syntactic coherence of the oral modality, we analyzed the lexical repetitions found in 19 oral texts of an idio-pathic nature. The Syntactic Coherence Windows proposed by Daniel Luzzati have been our primary unit of analysis. As a result of our research we have demonstrated that the syntactic structures created around phenomena of repetition are by no means negligible rather, are so peculiar that they are perfectly acceptable and justifiable from the view point of syntactic coherence and the enunciation conditions themselves of spoken language,or rather, in most cases perform some specific functions, for example, assure, enrich or facilitate understanding of the content or strengthen the interaction between storytellers.
