"Yuri Sam: Otoitza": Sorginaren berpiztea

Abstract

In this piece of work the play Yuri Sam: Otoitza (2003), the most representative piece of Ander Lipus and the Imaginary Theatre Factory, is examined. Yuri Sam is a shaman based on Noh theatre, Kathakali, Bali dances and Mapuche ceremonies mixed with Basque roots; he returns from death by means of a life­affirming rite. This play which is influenced by theater anthropology reflects a revolutionary way of understanding theater and is the most interesting Basque play of the last few years.
