Abstract

This research aims to analyze and interpret the behavior observed in the oral language of interpersonal interactions inserted in the oral discourse analysis, based on a psychosocial perspective of language, public debates given by young persons and adults in Basque have been analyzed. Pragmatically, we have commenced from the theory of speech actions. From the Politeness Theory (Brown and Levinson, 1978, 1987; Kerbrat-Orecchioni 1992, 1996, 2005) and the socio-discursive interaction (Bronckart, 1996) a tool has been developed which is used for the analysis of these radio or television debates. The results of the analysis lead us to conclude that in the reproductions of young persons and adults the value and the functions of the strategies of politeness are substantially different.
